Jean C. Frisby, age 98, of Warren, Arkansas died Monday, December 21, at home. She was born October 24, 1917 in New Edinburg, Arkansas, a daughter of the late Duncan Green Campbell and Jennie Hunter Campbell. She was a graduate of the New Edinburg Public School System, held a BA from Arkansas A and M (University of Arkansas at Monticello) and earned a Masters Degree in Home Economics from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. In 1957 she organized the first All Tomato Luncheon in Warren, a tradition that continues. Mrs. Frisby retired on March 31 1995 as County Extension Agent Staff Chairman. She served as Vice President of the National Association of Extension Home Economist from 1964 to 1967; for the years 1960 to 1961 she was President of the Arkansas Association of Extension Home Economist. She served as President and Vice President of the Warren B&PW Club and was a member of the Bradley County Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Frisby was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Warren. She married Oscar F. Frisby on April 5, 1952 in New Edinburg, Arkansas and he died July 31, 1978. Surviving is two nephews Walter Ellis, Tampa, Fla. and Curtis Holmes, Buffalo, New York and a niece Dr. Marsha Ellis Smith, Louisville, Kentucky. She was also preceded in death by a brother Leonard Hunter Campbell and three sisters Helen C. Ellis, Clara C. Holmes and Louise C. Ferguson. Jean saved countless lives with her teaching related to food preparation and preservation through her home visits, demonstrations and daily radio program. She epitomized the art of social graces and hospitality. Her dedication to her family and friends was with out bounds. As a woman she set the standard for her gender as a housewife and in the state professional workplace. The world is a better place because of Jean. Funeral services 10 a.m. Thursday, December 24, at Frazer's Chapel. Burial in Oakland Cemetery by Frazer's Funeral Home. Visitation 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, at Frazer's. Memorials preferred to First Presbyterian Church, 212 East Church Street, Warren, Arkansas 71671.
