Mary Ctherine Fitzgerald

Mary Catherine Fitzgerald, resident of Fayetteville, Arkansas, entered into heavenly rest Sunday, December 6, following a struggle with illness during the past year. The daughter of Woodrow Wilson Fitzgerald, Lyndall Taylor Fitzgerald and step daughter of Catherine Taylor Fitzgerald she was born June 28, 1952 in Sikeston, Missouri, only minutes apart from her identical twin Patricia Jane Fakes. Mary grew up alongside her siblings, Terry, Pat and Judy Fitzgerald and parents in Sikeston, Missouri between a childhood residence on Park Avenue and the Fitzgerald Farm. Stories of a haunted home and many fond memories of the farm days continue to permeate the lives of the family. Riding horses and living life to the fullest were favorite pastimes of Mary and her family. After graduating high school Mary attended Gulf Park College, in Mississippi, and Ste. Mary's Dominican college in New Orleans, where she was never without her sister Pat. Together they flourished becoming the lovely ladies they are. A medical technologist in her early years, she always devoted her time to raising her two children, Hunter and Lyndall. Artistically talented in many areas, Mary leaves a legacy behind of her gifted hands. Her later years were invested in the real estate world and doing what she was best at, taking care of others. Mary was always fully engaged in making everyone a friend while exuding true southern hospitality. Not only was Mary a true friend to the many she met but she was also an outstanding daughter, mother, and sister, whom we all have nothing but cherished memories of our sweet Mary. She would want all to know that she is in a peaceful place surrounded by love, and that her heart of gold will continue to radiate in those of us that she leaves behind. Mary is survived by her son, Hunter Collins Haynes, his wife, Melissa, and their daughter, Harlowe all of Fayetteville, Arkansas; her daughter, Lyndall Margaret Haynes of San Antonio, Texas; her brother, Terry Fitzgerald and his wife Sherry of Sikeston, Missouri; her twin sister, Pat Fakes and her husband, Gary of Saint Louis, Missouri; her sister, Judy Mitchell and her husband Mont of Rogers, Arkansas; and her step-mother, Catherine Taylor Fitzgerald of Rogers, Arkansas. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 12 at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Tontitown, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Willard Walker Hospice Home of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Nelson Berna Funeral Home and Crematory of Fayetteville handled the cremation arrangements.
