Allen L. Mallioux, 90, of Fayetteville, formerly of Harrison, died Friday, December 11, 2015 in Fayetteville, Ark. after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. He was born on September 3, 1925 in Dallas, Texas to Al and Clara Frances Mallioux. The family relocated to Harrison, Arkansas where he attended school and graduated from Harrison High School. He served in the United States Army and the Army reserves from 1946 to 1953 and was honorably discharged. He graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and where he was a member and President of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He very much enjoyed his years at the University of Arkansas, and throughout his entire life was a proud Razorback and Pike. After college he moved to Memphis, Tennessee where he started a career in the construction business. There in Memphis he met Mary Catherine Williams whom he married in 1952. They were a wonderful couple and enjoyed a wonderful life together being married over 63 years until his death. His construction career took him to Indianapolis, Indiana and Tucson, Arizona. After 25 years he retired and relocated back to his hometown of Harrison. He and Mary Catherine together owned and operated a retail store in Harrison, Arkansas for 17 years until they both retired to enjoy their later years together. While in Harrison, he was a 24 year member and past President of the Rotary Club of Harrison, a 20 year volunteer and Board member of Share and Care, a patron of North Central Arkansas Concert Association, and a Life Member of Friends of the Library. In 1998 he was elected to the Boone County Quorum Court, as Justice of the Peace. He was reelected many times, mostly unopposed, and served 14 years. As a Justice on the Court, he was very interested, active, and supportive of the local hospital particularly the expansion in 2008. His brother in law, Dr. Ross Fowler, was a principal founder of the original Boone County Hospital and Mr. Mallioux always felt it was important to carry on the support for having a strong hospital for the community. In 2013 Mr. Mallioux and his wife relocated to Fayetteville to be close to, enjoy, and be cared for by and with his family during his remaining years. His family was always important to him, and the best times of his life were those spent with family and close friends. He was a wonderful, sweet, and caring husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather who will be very much missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and brother in law Jacquelyn Mallioux Fowler and Dr. Ross E. Fowler, and a niece Jean Fowler Giles. He is survived by his wife, Mary Catherine; one son, Ross Mallioux and daughter-in-law Terri; and one grandson, Trevor Mallioux who he was crazy about and gave him much joy. Others include Greg Giles and wife Terri, Karen Hughes and husband Kevin, their families and a whole host of friends he came to know over the years. He was a lifelong Christian, and attended First Christian Church in Harrison, as well as First Christian Church in Fayetteville. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Monday December 14th at First Christian Church, Harrison, Arkansas, with internment at Maplewood Cemetery immediately following the service. The family will greet friends at the church from Noon until service time. The family requests memorials to the Willard Walker Hospice Center at Washington Regional Medical Center where Mr. Mallioux received extraordinary care. The family's hope is that others who are battling Alzheimer's can also receive wonderful support and care at this facility in the future.
