John D. Giggy, 71 of Bella Vista, Ark. passed away on December 2nd at Circle of Life in Bentonville, Ark. He was born in Duncan, Okla. May 5, 1944 to Burrton Keith Giggy and Mary Alma (Alley) Giggy. He grew up in Kansas where he attended grade school in Russell, graduated from high school in Great Bend and received a BA degree in art and psychology at Emporia State Teachers College. He worked for the Emporia Gazette and the Wichita Eagle and Beacon before becoming the advertising manager for Fleming Foods Wichita Division in 1968. His passion was his career with Fleming where he had the opportunity to work with some amazing people and live in various parts of the country for 34 years. In 2003 he went to work for Ivie & Associates out of Dallas and moved to Bella Vista having Sam's Club as a client. He retired in 2005 and joined the Bella Vista Fly Tyers and was an active member of Bella Vista Community Church serving on various boards. He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, collecting guns and being with his family. He will forever be remembered for his sense of humor, being a great conversationalist and a walking encyclopedia. John (Gig) is survived by his wife of 49 years Mary Lou (Freund) Giggy of Bella Vista, one daughter, Laura (Gig) and her husband Steve Ferro of Gladstone, Mo.; one son, Chris (Gig) Giggy and his wife Amy of Wichita, Kan.; a brother, Keith (Tony) Giggy and his wife Kay of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a sister Darla (Gig) Jones and her husband John of Salina, Kan.; two granddaughters Gabriella Ferro, and Sophia Giggy; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015 at Bella Vista Community Church with Pastor Jeff Reed officiating.
