Joan Johnson Beasley, age 86, of Farmington passed away June 24, 2014, in Fayetteville. Joan was born Nov. 17, 1927, in Fayetteville, Ark., to Charles and Bobbie Johnson. Joan grew up on the east end of Lafayette Street here in Fayetteville, always had a horse and was one of the few girls in town to have her own car. She graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1945. Joan was an accomplished pianist and attended the University of Arkansas Music School. Her parents owned a paint and wallpaper store on Block Street near the Blue Mill Restaurant and later ran the Fountain Motel on North College. She and her husband loved training and showing Tennessee Walking horses. They lived together on five acres in Farmington with a host of animals from the late '60s until her death. They were very active in local horse clubs and showed horses throughout the region. Later, Joan was sought after as a horse show organist. She called Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville home. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Joseph Noble Beasley DVM in May 2009. She is survived by her son, Michael Beasley of Arcata, Calif. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2014, at Moore's Chapel. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Farmington Cemetery, Farmington, Ark., under the direction of Moore's Chapel Funeral Home.
