Betty Jane Bailey Arnn

Betty Jane Bailey Arnn, 90, died June 24, at her home. Betty was born October 7, 1923, in Springtown (Benton County), Arkansas, to Hollis Richard and Eva Grace Wiles Bailey. Betty was a believer in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and her strong faith in God was evident in the way she taught her daughters to love and to serve Him. She was a Christian homemaker, a farm wife who grew a garden every year and preserved vegetables for her family. In addition, she was a tractor driver, a cotton chopper, and a cotton picker who was once challenged to hand pick a bale of cotton in one day, which she did. She loved the people of God, was active in her church, and held several positions of service. She was a member of the Drew County Extension Homemakers Club and worked in many local elections. She was predeceased by her husband, Cleo Arnn, whom she married on June 26, 1947, in Dermott and one brother, Robert Bailey. She is survived by two daughters, Sue Arnn of Camden and Dottie Brown (Richard) of Fayetteville, two grandchildren, Sarah Ross (Chris) of Little Rock and Lt. Richard Andrew Brown, USMC (Carrie) of Camp Pendleton, Calif., three great-grandchildren, Kate Ross, Benjamin Ross, and Julia Brown. She is also survived by three sisters, Faye Patterson of Hazen, Mary Jo Patterson (Fletcher) of Wewahitchka, Fla., and Marie Owens (Buddy) of Dermott. Funeral services will be held at Proctor Funeral Home Chapel, Thursday, June 26, at 3 p.m. Visitation will be at 1:30 -2:30 p.m. prior to the service in the small dining room at First Baptist Church Camden. Services will be conducted by Dr. Richard Piles, pastor of First Baptist Church Camden and Rev. Tim Gunter, pastor of worship and discipleship of First Baptist Church Camden. Interment will be Friday, June 27 at 11 a.m., at the Dermott City Cemetery, W. Gaines St., Dermott, Arkansas. Pallbearers are: Bobby Bass, Oren Blann, Keith Everett, Bill Jordan, Tim Marks, Art McCants, Bernard Sarrett, and Sam Steelman. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Sanctuary Bible Fellowship Class of First Baptist Church Camden: Irvin Bass, Tom Beasley, George Cross, Robert Dodson, Jimmy Dunn, Lloyd Lindsey, James Morgan, James Oliver, Dr. Cal Sanders, Carl Schanzlin, Wayne Taylor, David Vaughn, and Phillip Wells.
