Roy Bernard Plattner

Roy Bernard Plattner, 91, of Fayetteville, passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, receiving compassionate care in the Willard Walker Hospice House. He was born March 3, 1923, in Chicago, Ill., to Frederick and Mabel Wilson Plattner. Roy served during WWII in the Armed Forces 12th Armored Division and the 2nd Infantry Division. He was retired from the Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Co. of Chicago. Roy was a member of the Fayetteville Noon Lions Club, Good Shepard Lutheran Church of Fayetteville and Ashburn Lutheran Church in Chicago. He loved walking and could often be seen enjoying Mud Creek Trail. Roy was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Doris Anderson Plattner; twin brother, Raymond Plattner and younger brother, Charles Plattner; sisters, Dorothy Gedaminsas and Francis Brown. He is survived by two daughters, Audrey Baxter and her husband Gerald Baxter of Fayetteville and Arlene Steimle of Middleville, Mich.; grandchildren, Zachary Baxter of New York, N.Y., and Madison Baxter of St. Louis, Mo.; and several special nieces and nephews. Following cremation and a private family gathering, interment will be in the Fayetteville National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Moore's Chapel.
