Doris Fay Heffner, 91, passed away June 17, 2014, at the Bradford House in Bentonville. She was born on Nov. 15, 1922, in Fayetteville, Ark., to the late Roy Bertis and Grace (Hembree) Drain. Doris and her husband, Harold, would have celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in September. They lived in California, until retiring to Arkansas, about 25 years ago. She and Harold owned a salon, The Balcony, in North Hollywood. She was a brilliant cosmetologist and had the privilege of styling Betty Ford's hair. She was the styles director for the California Cosmetologist Association (CCA). Mrs. Heffner graduated from Biola University in Southern California, with a degree in Christian Education. After moving to Arkansas, Doris and Harold were pioneers for Logos Bible Software, working on a contract basis, as "taggers." They would scan books into their computer, to be transferred to disc. They did this out of their home for 10 years. Doris is survived by her husband, Harold of Rogers; her brother, Robert Rothlisberger and sister, Beverly Waite, both of Arizona; brother-in-law, Clifford Heffner of Texas; nephew, Roger Heffner and niece Joanna Reed, both of California. A private memorial service was held. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Rollins Funeral Home. Online condolences can be made at www.rollinsfuneral.com.
