Robert D. "Bob" Green

Mr. Robert D. "Bob" Green, age 81, of Carrollton passed away Friday, June 13, 2014. Mr. Green was born in Gallatin, Tenn., on Nov. 20, 1932, the son of the late James S. Green and Emily Cantrell Green. He served in the Korean War with the U.S. Army. He was employed by the Atlanta Journal Constitution as the Circulation District Manager and retired as a member of the 25 year Club, Carrollton Masonic Lodge since 1969, and was a graduate of the Radio School of Broadcasting in Nashville, Tenn. He came to Carrollton from Gallatin, Tenn., in 1955 to work as an announcer for WLBB radio station. Afterwards he started with the Atlanta Journal Constitution and retired in 1994 after 26 years. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Shirley Draper Green; Daughter, Tina Green of Carrollton; Son and Daughter-in-law, Douglass and Kristie Green of Siloam Springs, Ark., Daughter and son-in-law, Emily and Bobby McNabb of Rossville, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, John and Mary An Green of Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren, Jamie and Lori McNabb, Kris and Holly Green, and Chris Wills; great grandchildren, Olivia and Thomas Wills; sisters Elise Hoffman, Bessie Short, Mary Morgan, and Billie Glover; brothers, James. S. Green and Norval E. Green. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Samuel C. Green and one sister, Emily E. Green. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from noon to 2 p.m. Graveside services will be Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Carroll Memory Gardens.
