David Lyle Hollman

David Lyle Hollman, age 75, of Pineville, Mo., passed away on June 7, 2014, in Fayetteville, Ark., at the Willard Walker Hospice Home. He was born on Nov. 20, 1938, in St. Louis, Mo., to Delmar Hollman and Vera Sumner Hollman. He graduated from Vinita High School in 1956. He attended Oklahoma State where he received his associates degree in aircraft and power frame mechanics. He later attended Oklahoma A & M where he received his private pilot's license. He began his career in Bartlesville, Okla., for Phillips Petroleum Company. He started as a night watchman and then went on to be certified as an airplane mechanic. He began his flying career as a co-pilot and later was promoted to chief pilot. It was at this point in his career that he was rated to fly overseas. He later moved to Fayetteville, Ark., and eventually flew for Brunner & Lay, and then for Flying Investments. He loved being in the sky, and flying Falcon Jets, Gulfstreams, Lear Jets and Saberliners whenever he could. He is preceded in death by his parents, Delmar Hollman and Vera Sumner Hollman. He is survived by his children, Cheri Grant of Sperry, Okla., Pamela Hofer of Raleigh, N.C., Tina Barfield of Fayetteville, Ark., Claudine Zellmar of Dallas, Texas, and Marcus Hollman of Los Angelas, Calif. He also is survived by 11 grandchildren. Graveside services are scheduled at a later date.
