Marjorie Montgomery Nordling

Marjorie Montgomery Nordling, 92, Bentonville, Ark., formerly of Neosho, died June 3, 2014, following a short illness. Marjorie was born Oct. 13, 1921, and lived in the Neosho area for many years. In 1952, she started her business career as owner and operator of Bon Ton Cafe, later named the Elwood Cafe. In the mid 1960s, she began her fashion career in women's apparel by opening Tres Chic in Neosho. She added a second location in Bentonville, Ark., in 1980 which she operated until December 2013. Marjorie was a member of the Bentonville and Bella Vista Chamber of Commerce where she served on the retail committee, and was a member of the former ABWA and Business and Professional Women's Association. She loved shopping, reading and spending time with her dog, Remington. She was a member of the Bentonville First Christian Church in Bentonville, Ark. Marjorie married Harry Montgomery, who precedes her in death, and later married Chester Nordling, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Barbara (Cookie) Hylton and husband, Lonnie, Nixa, Mo.; a son, Tom Montgomery and wife, Tracey, Rogers, Ark.; a daughter-in-law, Margie Ann Cook, Joplin, Mo.; one brother, Bill Hurn and wife, Opal, Granby, Mo.; four grandchildren, John Cook, Jami Jordan and husband, Jason, Eric von Gremp, Nick von Gremp; and four great-grandchildren, Lex Cook, Hunter Cook, Christian Cook and Mila Jordan. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Marjorie is preceded in death by a son, James (Jim) Cook; grandson, Lex Cook; and grandson, Nathan Daugherty. Services will be Saturday, June 7, 2014, beginning with visitation at noon and funeral service at 1 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Bentonville, Don Morrow, minister, will officiate. Graveside services will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Neosho IOOF Cemetery, Neosho. Visitation services will also be held on Friday evening at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, from 5 to 6 p.m. Contributions in memory of Marjorie may be made to Faithful Friends Animal Advocates, c/o Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, MO 64850.
