Joyce Downard

Joyce L. Downard, 86, of Bentonville died Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center. She was born April 30, 1928, in Galveston, Texas, the daughter of Wilda Mae and Fred Lange. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family, playing cards with family and friends, and enjoyed watching all John Wayne movies. She loved the Lord with all her heart and devoted her life to serving other people. She lived a life of integrity and generosity and was well loved by all who knew her. She was a member of Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall, Texas. She had lived in the Northwest Arkansas area since 2011 after moving from Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Downard; one sister; one brother; and her parents. Joyce is survived by two sons, Tom Downard and his wife, Wendy, of Dallas, Texas, Sandy Downard of Rockwall, Texas; one daughter, Diane Higgins and her husband, Dick, of Fayetteville; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
