Dorothy Morsani

Dorothy passed away Sept. 15, 2013, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tontitown, Ark. She was born on June 10, 1931, in Anthony, Kan., to Hugh and Sarah Louise Baxter Kane. She was raised in Elkins, Ark., and graduated from University High at Peabody Hall on the U of A Campus in Fayetteville in 1949. Her first job was working for Collier Rexall Drug Store on the Fayetteville Square, and that is where she met the love of her life, Tito J. Morsani, who worked across the street at the Fayetteville Post Office. He would come in daily for a soda and to see her. They married June 22, 1949, and lived in Tontitown all their life. Dorothy worked at Lichlyter's Department Store for several years until becoming a self-employed cake decorator and wedding caterer. Many of Northwest Arkansas's brides came to Dorothy for their wedding cakes. She was also owner of Sugar and Spice and later owned Petals and Spice. After retiring from the floral business, Dorothy focused on her own flowers in her flower garden. She enjoyed gardening and her garden clubs. She was a past member of Terra Firma Garden Club and was a current member of the Garden Club of Rogers. She was also a member of Floralia Arranger's Guild and a longtime member of the Northwest Arkansas District of Arkansas Garden Clubs. Dorothy was also past president of the Springdale Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and also a volunteer for the NARTI auxiliary. Survivors are her daughter, Jan Taldo and husband, Kenneth, of Tontitown; grandson, Christopher Taldo of Tontitown; and granddaughter, Lauren Taldo Guthrie and husband, Jason, of Tontitown; and several nieces and nephews. Rosary will be on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tontitown, Ark. Funeral Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m., with Father Greg Hart officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale.
