Robert Ray Jones, 75, of Pea Ridge, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, Sept. 17, at Circle of Life in Bentonville surrounded by family after a twenty-year fight with cancer. He was born in Eads, Colo. on Aug. 3, 1938, to Walter and Anne Jones. He grew up in Oklahoma and went to school in Healdton, Oklahoma. He served in the US Air force from March 1956 to March 1960 stationed at Clovis, N.M. and was in Turkey and France. He married Betty Ridings in 1960 and they had two children, Duane and Julie, they later divorced. He worked in the oil fields until he got hurt, then went to work as a logging engineer for McCullough Tool Company. He later went to work for the government in the missile fields where he was an overseer of the sites and moved around to different states. He married Maryls Nordquist, they later retired and moved to her home state of North Dakota where she passed away Oct. 9, 2002. He married Connie Sandstrom June 20, 2003, and they traveled around before settling in Pea Ridge. Robert enjoyed fishing and camping. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Pea Ridge and is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Betty; second wife, Maryls; grandparents and nephew, Winston. Survivors are his wife Connie of the home; son, Duane (Ticia) of Centerton, Ark.; daughter, Julie (John) Foster of Shawboro, N.C.; stepchildren, Stacy (Richard) Sandstrom of Granbury, Texas, Daren (Brenda) Sandstrom of Minot, N.D., Michelle (Ole) Shipp of Granville, N.D., Sandy Piper and Bruce Nordquist of Sioux Falls, S.D.; sister, Jan (David) Hoard of Sterling, Okla.; grandchildren, Jack and Walter Foster; step-grandchildren, Jacob Sandstrom, Marcus,Eberle, Cooper, Reed, and Kinley Shipp, Josie and Josh Piper, Byron Sweet; niece, Tammy; and nephews, James and Yancy; adopted family, Dallas and Lindsay LaCaze and family. A memorial service is set for Thursday, Sept. 26, 11 a.m at Messiah Lutheran Church in Pea Ridge with Pastor Richard Mayer and Pastor Dallas LaCaze officiating. Burial of cremains will be at Plaza, North Dakota, at a later date. Online condolences may be made at siscofuneralhome.net.
