Shiela Ann Jones

Shiela Ann Jones, 80, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at Circle of Life Legacy Village in Bentonville, Ark. She was born on Sept. 21, 1932, in New Ulm, Minn., to Herbert Fick and Alice Radloff Fick. She received her B.A. from St. Olaf College, music education, with graduate study with Mankato State University, Winona State University, University of Minnesota and St. Scholastica. While teaching, Shiela was an adjudicator for district level choir, solo and ensemble contests, representative on the state board of directors for MMEA (Minnesota Music Educators Association) Region 1, church choir director of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Spring Valley, Minn., conductor of the Spring Valley Community Choir. She was a member of the Music Educators National Conference, Minnesota Music Educators Association, National Education Association, Minnesota Education Association and the Spring Valley Education Association. She was also named Teacher of the Year for Spring Valley in 1988. Shiela and her husband, Clifford, moved to Bella Vista in 1989. Cliff preceded Shiela in death in February 2001. In Bella Vista, Cliff and Shiela were avid golfers and active members of their church. Shiela became the church music and choir director for United Lutheran Church in Bella Vista for a number of years. Shiela continued to be a member of the church choir. In addition, she rang bells with the church bell choir and the community bell choir. She played baritone with the church orchestra. Shiela played bridge every Friday with a valued group of friends. She traveled to Minnesota often to visit family and friends. Family was very important to Shiela. She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Cliff; and one sister, Shirley. She is survived by son, Jeff Peleaux and wife, Kari, of Bella Vista, Ark.; two daughters, Debbie Steinblock and husband, Richard, of Austin, Minn., Sandy Kerner and husband, Joe, of Maryland; one brother, Herb Fick and wife, Pat, of Northfield, Minn.; one sister, Sharon Bushman of Gig Harbor, Wash.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 9 a.m., with funeral services at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at the United Lutheran Church, Bella Vista, Ark.
