Susie Elizabeth Stumbo

Susie Elizabeth (Meadows) Stumbo, age 96, of Bentonville, formerly of Gravette, died Sept. 2, 2013, at Bradford House Nursing and Rehabilitation in Bentonville. She was born in Adair County, Okla., on April 14, 1917, to the late Noah Arthur and Jennie (Freeman) Meadows. She married Fred Stumbo at age 19 and together they owned and operated amusements and concessions. After Fred's death, Sue worked at Gravette Manor Nursing Center as a nurse, nurse's aide, activity director and as the social services director. She was a caregiver to those in need. She enjoyed going to the Senior Citizens' Activity Center in Gravette and doing her many volunteer duties. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Gravette, a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star and did many activities for the Gravette Museum. Survivors include a nephew, Paul Leigh Davidson of Bentonville; niece, Betty Hutchinson of Bentonville; one great-nephew, Eric Hutchinson of Bentonville; two great-great-nieces and one great-great-nephew. She is also survived by step-granddaughters, Pat Stumbo of Joplin, Mo., Sally Wallace of Alvin, Texas; two step-great-grandchildren, and two step-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred Stumbo; and sisters, Lorene Stoltz and Inola Davidson. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at First United Methodist Church in Gravette. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Gravette. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, should be made to Alzheimer's Arkansas. Arrangements are by Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Bentonville.
