Clayton Leroy Ames, 98, of Springdale went home to his Father on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013. He was born Nov. 5, 1914, in Eureka Springs to Charles Fred and Rena Adeline Hill Ames. Leroy served in the Navy during WWII. He retired from Jones Truck Lines after a 38 year, accident-free career. During retirement he enjoyed hunting, fishing and sports. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lowell. He was preceded in death by two wives, Marie Ames and Lois Ames; a daughter, Patricia Lynn Little; and a grandson, John Little. He is survived by four children, Charles Ames and wife, Betty, of Garfield, Glenda Hutchinson and husband, Yancey, of Springdale, Larry Cannon and wife, Nora, of Webb City, Mo., Brenda Kennan of Springdale; two brothers, Ted Ames of Washington, Jimmy Ames of Springdale; a sister, Mary Ann Lee of Springdale; and seven grandchildren, Charles Clayton Ames, Alan Ames, David Little, Karen Orlando, Jennifer Cannon, Jacob Hutchinson and Kaitlyn Hutchinson; and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at First Baptist Church of Lowell, with Pastor Gary Thomas officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.
