Ray Lilburn Dean, age 72, of Deer, Ark., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, in Harrison, Ark. The son of Town and Zella (Davis) Dean was born Oct. 11, 1940, in Bass, Ark. He moved back to Deer in 2008 after living and working in Springdale for 43 years. He was married to the love of his life for 51 years. Ray loved God, reading his Bible and faithfully attending his church, Pine Grove, on Smith Mountain Road. He also loved spending time with his family, hunting and riding his four-wheeler. His heart's desire was to be loved by everyone and be a good Christian man. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and two sisters, John Dean, Homer Dean, Bonnie Peoples and Elva Garrett. Survivors are his wife, Greta (Stone) Dean of Deer; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Loy Counts of Deer; son, Mike Dean of Springdale; brother, Kenneth Von Dean of Deer; sisters, Vernie Sams of Hartman, Ark., Velma Mifflin of Scottsdale, Ariz., Flora Ann Rush of Jasper and Wilma Middleton of Vendor; grandchildren, Courtnie Dean and Tanner Counts; great-grandchildren, Rylie and Ethan. Services at 2 p.m. today (Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013) at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper, with burial in Fort Douglas Cemetery.
