Ken Mason

Ken Mason, age 71, of Bentonville passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at the Circle of Life Hospice Home at Legacy Village in Bentonville. Ken was born in Hiwasse, Ark., on Oct. 5, 1941, to Dennis Lionel and Alice Katherine (Law) Mason. Ken graduated from Bentonville High School, and served his country in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. On Dec. 18, 1987, he married Marcy Nieman and they were married for over 25 years. Ken retired from Walmart with 20-plus years and also worked as freelance photojournalist and radio broadcaster for KAMO, and was a member of the New Hope Assembly of God Church in Rogers. He served his community as a member of the Bentonville City Council and volunteered for the Bentonville Fire Department. Ken enjoyed weather spotting and amateur radio operating, traveling and being outside, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Preceded in death by his mother, Ken is survived by his wife, Marcy Mason of the home; his father, Dennis Mason of Rogers; five sons, David Mason and wife, Tina, of Rogers, John Mason of Centerton, Miles Mason and wife, Sonya, of Bentonville, Scot Mason and wife, Lois, of Rogers, Jarod Mason and wife, Tonya, of Rogers; two stepsons, Jeff Wilson and wife, Schelley, of Centerton, Tim Wilson and wife, Debi, of Texas; two stepdaughters, Heidi Hernandez and husband, Art, of Kansas City, Mo., Heather Midgette and husband, Evan, of Texas; one sister, Patricia Means and husband, Homer, of Rogers; 25 grandchildren, Laura, Nicholas, Colby, Brianna, Chandler, Bella, Alex, Micah, Chloe, Brandon, Alyssa, Hayden, Garrett, Hailey, Jacob, Abby, Connolly, Madi, Hannah, Isaac, Emma, Addie, Allie, Trey and Rebekah; one niece, Sherry of Bentonville; numerous other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the New Hope Assembly of God Church, 2626 W. New Hope Road, in Rogers. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at the New Hope Assembly of God Church in Rogers. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Hiwasse, Ark., with military honors.
