Wanda Smith, 81 of Rogers passed away peacefully Nov. 14, 2013, in her home surrounded by her husband and her dogs. She was born Nov. 26, 1931, in Fayetteville, Ark., the daughter of Hobart and Margaret Hooten Julian. She graduated from Springdale High School in 1949 she was a cheerleader and Homecoming Queen. Wanda and her husband Frank owned and operated Frank M. Smith Real Estate in Rogers for many years before their retirement. She was the principal broker for the office, where her team was consistently at or near the top in sales volume for many years. Several local veteran agents began successful careers with Wanda and Frank. A true lady, relationships were more important than money, and she was known for her family office atmosphere. She earned her CRS and GRI certification, served a term as the President of the Rogers Board of Realtors, and was local Chairman of the Arkansas Professional Standards Community and active in the Business of Professional Women's Association in Rogers. She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Rogers. Wanda dearly loved dancing, family and home, but she was most passionate about her grandchildren and pets. She loved all animals and was a fierce advocate for them, often a frequent adversary of local dog catchers. She was instrumental in establishing no kill adoption policies; generously supported Northwest Arkansas Shelters, spay and neuter endeavors, and local Humane Societies. She is preceded in death by two children, Cynthia Ann and Phillip Martin Smith; her parents and her brother, Bobby Gene Julian. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Frank M. Smith of the home; son, Craig Smith of Fayetteville; two grandchildren, Patrick Smith of Fayetteville and Olivia Smith of Bentonville, and their mother, Marianne Woodyear Smith of Bentonville. Visitation will be at the Hunt Chapel at Pinnacle Memorial Gardens from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, with a memorial service following at 4:30 with Pastor Dale Thompson officiating.
