Kathleen "Kathie" Griggs Bass, 67, of Springdale, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Circle of Life Hospice. She was born Sept. 19, 1946, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Freeman William and Ruth Bea Thompson Griggs. Kathie was raised in Northwest Arkansas. As a young woman she was a licensed beautician and a homemaker. She later worked for Daisy BB Manufacturing and then retired from Walmart after 25 years. She enjoyed the excitement of the casinos, playing bingo and Branson weekends. She participated in bowling leagues and was an avid fan of Arkansas Razorbacks football, the "Dr. Oz" and "Wheel of Fortune" TV shows, and the Weather Channel. She had a playful sense of humor, and a good prank always brought her a good laugh. Above all else, Kathie was devoted to the care of her family, including her disabled daughter since 2008 and her mother from 2003 until her passing in 2009. She will be remembered as a dedicated, compassionate, loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt. She is survived by four daughters: Regina Morris and husband Isaiah of Springdale, Tammy Mata and husband Billy of Haslet, Texas, Kyla Alexander of Springdale, and Tiffani Leimberg of Centerton; seven grandchildren, Skyler, Hailey, Aaliyah, Ethan, Tanner, Liberty, and Addison; two sisters, Virginia Parker of Bridger, Mont., and Louise Hawkins of Huntsville; one niece: Laura Coberly; and three nephews, Quinton Meek, Randy Parker and Rodney Parker. As a Christian, the holy Bible gave her great comfort during her final days. A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, 1591 S. 48th Street in Springdale. Memorial contributions may be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, AR 72762 or online at www.nwacircleoflife.com/giving.
