Lelus Cochran

Lelus Cochran, 88, passed away in Rogers on Thursday, May 16, 2013. The son of John and Nellie Baker Cochran, he was born in Hector, Ark., on May 10, 1925, and spent most of his life in Russellville, where he owned and operated Cochran Sweeping. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed at Pearl Harbor. He was a member of Rogers-Rye VFW Post #2283, Pope County Riding Club, Pope County Cattleman's Association and the United Commercial Travelers. Lelus was a lifelong member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a member of Session. He enjoyed farming, riding horses, gardening and spending time with his grandsons. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Agnes Hamilton Cochran; his son, Steve Cochran, and grandsons Wyatt and Matt, all of Rogers; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Russellville, with the Rev. Steve Mosley officiating. Burial with honors will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
