John T. Moncravie Jr.

John T. Moncravie Jr., 76, of Fayetteville, passed away on May 15, 2013. He was born on Aug. 16, 1936, in Tulsa, Okla. John was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelia Pettus and John T. Moncravie, and brother, Christopher Moncravie. He is survived by his sons, John T. Moncravie III, Michael Moncravie, Philip Moncravie, George Moncravie and wife, Kathy, Peter Moncravie; his daughters, Elizabeth Moncravie, and Katherine Harber and husband, Chuck; his sisters, Mary Kathryn Lewis and Clementine Moncravie; seven grandchildren; two nieces; and dear friend, Virginia and family; as well as many friends. John served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring to Fayetteville with his family in 1976. After his military service, John continued his education at the University of Arkansas, continued traveling and driving "big rigs" across the country. John's passion as an Osage researcher led him to become an historian and philanthropist. Most notable was his research fellowship work with Dr. J.W. Wiggins at the Sequoyah National Research Center at UALR. A private service with family and close friends will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2013, at Beard's Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2013, at the funeral home. A memorial service honoring John will be held Aug. 17, 2013, in Pawhuska, Okla.
