Betty Lou Hilton

Betty Lou Hilton, 85, of Joplin, Mo., was born March 17, 1928, in East St. Louis to Louis and Pearl Satterfield Jacobs and departed this life peacefully May 10, 2013, in her home. In 1946, Betty married Robert Hitt, who preceded her in death. To this union, one child was born, Thomas William Hitt. On Dec. 7, 1953, Betty married Dr. Paul Hilton, who preceded her in death. She and Paul moved to Joplin in 1974. She worked as a medical records librarian at St. Louis Children's Hospital and Grim-Smith Hospital in Kirksville, Mo. Survivors included a son, Thomas Hitt and wife, Linda, of Fayetteville; daughter, Mary McEvilly and husband, Mike, of Spring, Texas; son, Timothy Hilton of Kansas City, Mo.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Graveside services were held on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, in Crane Community Cemetery in Crane, Mo., under the care of Westrip Funeral Home in Crane, Mo. The children would like to thank Heart to Heart for their years of care, service and devotion. Memorials may be given in Betty's name to the Alzheimer's organization.
