Iris Douglas Perry, age 90, of Gravette died May 7, 2013, at St. John Medical Center in Springfield, Mo. She was born in Centerton on Jan. 14, 1923, to the late Elmer and Huey (Cox) Douglas. She attended Gravette Schools from which she graduated in 1940. She later attended Ouachita Baptist University, earning a teaching certificate in elementary education. In July 1942, she married Vance E. Perry in Bentonville. They spent 29 years in the U.S. Air Force, 20 of which she spent teaching kindergarten at various locations. Additionally, she was a talented pianist who played in various churches since the age of 15. Most recently, she was a member of First Christian Church in Gravette. Survivors include her son, Douglas Perry and wife, Judy, of Powder Springs, Ga.; daughter, Cathy Roberts and husband, Jay, of Plano, Texas; sisters, Wilma Sumner and Ada Mae Barnett, both of Tulsa, Alice Vivian Goodwin of Florissant, Mo.; grandchildren, Shelly Perry, Peter Perry, Troy Allen Perry, Melissa Kurtz, Jennifer Ratliff, Emilie Roberts, Faith Pizzo; great-grandchildren, Alexa Perry, Katelyn and Nathan Singley, Marlowe Ratliff, Nathan Pizzo, Sophie Kurtz, Solomon and Hannah Perry, and baby girl Ratliff due July 31; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vance Perry; and one son, Pete Perry. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2013, at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at First Christian Church in Gravette. Burial will be at a later date in Fayetteville National Cemetery.
