Marjorie Emma Carnes

Marjorie Emma Carnes, age 85, of Rogers passed away on May 4, 2013, in Bentonville. She was born Oct. 16, 1927, in Whitesburg, Ga., to the late Frances Holloway and David Oliver Johnson. Married to James William (Bill) Bankston, who was deceased in 1969, and then to Percy Carnes on Sept. 26, 1975. She is survived by daughters, Cathy Jenkins and husband, Clay Jenkins, Irene Boyer and husband, Buzz Boyer, all residing in Arkansas, Pamela Carnes Hilburn and husband, Ron; and son, Phillip Carnes and wife, Kim, from Georgia. She had seven grandchildren, James Reynolds, Bryan Reynolds, Matt Jenkins, Heather Carnes Maughon, Brooke Carnes Aguilar, Josh Carnes and Andrew Carnes; and great-grandchildren, Thomas, Morgan and Lexi. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Johnson. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who loved spending time with her family. She was a deeply devout Christian and volunteered her time for anything she could do for her church, including folding programs for Sunday service and cooking for church dinners. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, crossword puzzles and Wheel of Fortune. Memorial service to be held at First United Methodist Church in Rogers, Ark., at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2013.
