Earldean Summers

Earldean Summers, 85, of Hutchinson, Kan., died April 25, 2013, in a Kansas hospital. She was born Sept. 5, 1927, in Dyer, Ark., to the late Earl Thaedeus and Ola Mildred (Campbell) Morse. Earldean graduated in 1945 from Alma High School. On Feb. 11, 1946, she married Gorden Summers. They resided in Topeka where they were owners of Vorse-Summers Heating and Air Conditioning for 17 years. Earldean was a Westar retiree, having worked for the former Kansas gas service for 27 years. After retiring in 1991, Earldean and Gorden moved to Bella Vista, Ark., where they were members of the Bella Vista United Methodist Church. Gorden passed away March 28, 2007. She is survived by a daughter, Peggy Hughes and husband, Gary, of Hutchinson, Kan.; a son, Larry Summers and companion, Andrew Barresi, of Kansas City, Mo.; a grandson, Geoffrey S. Hughes of Dallas; and a sister, Irene Hurd of Lansing, Kan. Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2013, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Chapel in Van Buren. Interment of the ashes will take place at Simmons Cemetery in Dyer, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren. The family will visit with friends following the service.
