Josephine Wood

Josephine Threet Strate Wood, age 90, of Bentonville passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Bradford House in Bentonville. She was born in Bentonville on March 20, 1923, to the late John and Pearl (Dean) Threet. Josephine was a homemaker and loved cooking for her family. She enjoyed playing cards and playing with all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bentonville. She will be dearly missed by all her family. Survivors include her son, Jerry Strate and wife, Glenda, of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughter, Judy Ward and husband, Leonard, of Bentonville; daughter-in-law, Barbara Strate of Tulsa, Okla.; grandchildren, Tommy and Christie Strate, Coy and Maria Strate, Steve and Virginia Strate, Kari Ward, Kristi and Chad Erman, Jeff and Cherice Ward; great-grandchildren, Rachael, Clinton and Casey Strate, Noah, Kaia, Maddox and Reeve Strate, Ariel Strate, Bryce, Anna and Amanda, Brittani Reagan, Blake, Kya, Brock and Konner Williamson, Camden and Kaden Erman, and Jeffery H. Ward Jr.; great-great-grandson, Landon; step-great-grandchildren, Alex and Dylan Wiebe. Josephine is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her best friends for the past eight-and-a-half years were the staff, nurses and caregivers at the Bradford House in Bentonville. Josephine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 32 years, Roy Strate; sons, Arlon Strate, John Strate; second husband, Carl Wood; and siblings, Wanda Splawn, Lawrence Threet and Waive Howe. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, with services beginning at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers. Burial will follow in Bentonville Cemetery.
