Mary Alice Banks

Mary Alice Banks, 71, of McAlester, Okla., died March 22, 2013, at St. John's Medical Center in Tulsa. She was born on April 4, 1941, in McAlester to Lester and Lola (Barlow) Gann. She grew up here and graduated from Indianola High School as salutatorian. She married Charles G. Banks in 1970 in Miami. She worked for Southwestern Bell then for Amos Construction Co. in Oklahoma City as office manager and on-site bookkeeper. She then moved to Arkansas, where she worked as a real estate agent. Mary enjoyed fishing, fine arts and was always willing to help anyone in need. She loved all animals and going on RV trips and hunting trips with her husband. Recently she enjoyed spending time at her lake home in the Big Sky area. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Patti Carol Banks-Groshaus of Pea Ridge, Ark.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Sheila Gann of Lawrence, Kan., Gary K. and Fernanda Gann of Tulsa, Wayne and Marilyn Gann of McAlester; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Joy (Gann) Woody of Crowder, Pam (Gann) and Norman Tubb of Lowell, Ark.; many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles G. Banks; two sisters, Earlene Bice and Carol Shackelford; a brother, Larry Gann. Funeral services will be held at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, with the Rev. Pam Shirk officiating. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be her friends from the Indian Springs RV Park. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester, Okla.
