Joe Cripps passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013, surrounded by friends and family. He was born on June 26, 1954, in Springdale to the late Fred and EmmaBelle Cripps. Joe graduated from Springdale High School and received two bachelor's degrees from the University of Arkansas. He taught music in the Arkansas public school system and retired in 2011. He was also well-known for his passion for music as a jazz bass player, playing with various artists including the Woody Herman Big Band, Art Porter Sr., Charles Thomas, Happy Times Jazz Band and most recently, the Ted Ludwig Trio. Joe is survived by his wife, Debbie; his brother, Charles Cripps; his sister, Jane Hunt; his two children, Katie Kelley and Michael Cripps; and two grandchildren, Colin and Bailey. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, AR (501)224-8300.
