Martha Louise McCain

Martha Louise McCain was born July 28, 1949, and died March 13, 2013. Louise McCain is survived by Nancy Vaughn, her loving partner and lifetime companion; brother, James Loving McCain, Jr., and his wife, Judy; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and a host of loving friends all over the country. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Loving and Emma Louise McCain; and her two loving kitty companions, Jessie and Lacy Doodle. Born in Washington, D.C., Louise lived in Chevy Chase, Md., before moving to Pine Bluff, Ark., where she completed high school. After receiving her master's degree from the University of Arkansas, she worked at Springdale Hospital in the psychiatric ward, then spent many years at Ozark Guidance Center, where she was loved and respected by her colleagues as well as the clients. After retirement she moved to Madison County and became one of the land stewards of Ozark Land Holding Association. She lived happily in the woods for 20 years, loving the wildlife all around her. She was kind and generous and helped many people in many ways. She grew to love beautiful Lake Michigan when she spent time throughout her lifetime at Epworth Heights, a resort retreat in Ludington, Mich. She recently became a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church after having participated in several activities there. A memorial service will be held in a few weeks, the date to be announced later. Louise would be honored to be remembered by donations to St. Paul's; or to Ozark Land Holding Association, P.O. Box 2946 Fayetteville, AR 72702; or to Willard Walker Hospice Home, 325 E. Longview, Fayetteville, AR 72703.
