Rick Herring

Rick Herring, 61, of Fayetteville passed away March 7, 2013. Rick was born in Richfield, Utah, and raised in Temple, Texas. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Major and Lucille Herring; son, Casey Herring; sister-in-law, Donna Herring; and great-nephew, Colyn Cunningham. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Janice Herring; daughter, Amy Herring of Washington, DC; brother, Alan Herring of Fort Smith; mother-in-law, Nadine Mowris of Fort Smith; sister-in-law, Cindy Taylor of Fort Smith; nieces, nephews, a loving church family and many friends. Rick graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in business. He owned and managed a small business for most of his life. He also prepared taxes and served as a University of Arkansas sports usher in his spare time. He was the leader and guitar player for the praise team affectionately dubbed "The World's Most Dangerous Praise Band" at Oak Manor Christian Church. He loved to golf and bowl. Rick was a masterful cook who often smoked meat for large groups of friends and family. Becoming a Christian late in life, Rick was ever grateful for a loving God who relentlessly pursued him. Funeral services for Rick are 2 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2013, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home Chapel, Fayetteville, Ark., with Keith Mackey and Michael Armstrong officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mount Comfort Cemetery.
