Phillip Talmadge Neal, 80, of Springdale, passed from this life March 5, 2013. He was born Oct. 6, 1932, in Telfair County, Ga., to Philip and Ruby Saunders Neal. Phillip married Lola O'Dougherty on Dec. 31, 1954, in Denver, Colo. They met at a USO dance and were married six weeks later. He served in the Air Force for 26 years, working overseas in Libya, Thailand and Germany with trips to France, Italy and a much anticipated trek to Ireland to visit ancestors' environs. He pursued his dream of raising cattle and gardening on 22 acres in Springdale. He was a 32nd-degree Mason, active in the Masonic Lodge in Farmington, Ark. He loved to travel and visit with family. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting. Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lola; son, John of Springdale; daughter, Lisa Williams and her husband, Tony of Plano, Texas; and daughter, Rosemary Bushay and her husband, Terry of Holiday Island, Ark.; three grandchildren, Daphne Neal of Las Vegas, Nev., Emily Williams and Spencer Williams of Plano, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2013, at Fayetteville National Cemetery with military honors. The family suggests memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
