Judith Ann "Judy" Bishop Schaap, age 71, of Rogers died March 6, 2013, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Ark. She was born Jan. 24, 1942, in Fort Smith, Ark., the only child of Arthur Garland Bishop and Katherine Drucille Barton Bishop. Judy remained in Fort Smith through high school graduation, followed by college days at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Okla., and Westark Community College in Fort Smith. She then moved to Chicago, Ill., for three years and served in ministry within the Lutheran church in several southern locations, including Pine Bluff, Ark., Little Rock, Ark., Montgomery, Ala., St. Louis, Mo., Benton, Ark., Malvern, Ark. and Gastonia, N.C., before retiring to Northwest Arkansas. Judy enjoyed growing in knowing Jesus and friends and serving within her church, Word of Life Fellowship in Bentonville, Ark. Judy loved being a part of the senior ministries, visiting and praying with the residents of Bradford House Nursing Home and Concordia Nursing Home. Judy loved cooking, hospitality, visiting friends, being a grandmother, painting, singing, playing the piano and reading. She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her son, Benny Schaap and wife, Meribeth, and daughter, Lorrie Beaupre, all of Northwest Arkansas; grandchildren, Katherine Standard and husband, Johnnie, of Springfield, Ill., Joseph Perrin, Benjamin Schaap, Olivia Schaap, Rachel Schaap and Rebecca Schaap, all of Northwest Arkansas; as well as several cousins in Texas, Arkansas, Missouri and Washington. Visitation will be held at Word of Life Fellowship in Bentonville, Ark., on Saturday, March 9, at 1 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, AR 72762. Arrangements are with Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home, 3800 W. Walnut, Rogers.
