Rufus Wilburn Scott

Rufus Wilburn Scott, 88, a resident of Prairie Grove, passed away March 5, 2013, in Prairie Grove. He was born Feb. 28, 1925, in Proctor, Okla., the son of Rufus and Essie Dixie Buckner Scott. Rufus served in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Phillips Scott; one son, David Lee Scott; two sisters, Bessie Mae Martin and Myrtle McBroom; and one great-grandchild, Aiden Kaylor Wilbanks. Survivors include three sons, Chester L. Scott of Fayetteville, Wilbur Lynn Scott and Emmett Dean Scott, both of Kansas, Okla.; two daughters, Dorothy Lee Roberts of Evansville and Dixie Elaine Hawkins of Farmington; the mother of his children, Flossie Vaughn; one brother, Chester E. Scott of Fort Smith; 12 grandchildren, Jeremy Scott, Courtney Laird, Jennifer Lowery, Joshua Scott, Tony Scott, Amber Sisemore, David Roberts Jr., Angie Beakley, Andrea Brand, Christopher Hawkins, Misty Wilbanks and Alicia Hawkins; and 19 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Luginbuel Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2013, at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove. Burial will be in the Sharp Cemetery in Prairie Grove; there will be no graveside services held at the cemetery.
