Alfred S. Wright, 88, of Hot Springs, Ark. passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013. He was born April 3, 1925 in Kansas City, Mo., to Alfred and Dollie Wright. Mr. Wright was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He was very involved in the community. After serving our country for over 20 years in the US Army, he retired as a Sgt Major. In addition to the military, he retired from St. Josephs hospital as the Administrative Assistant to Sister Werner. He also retired from Wheeler Printing in Hot Springs. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hot Springs. Mr. Wright was very active in the Hot Springs community. He served as chairman of the Hot Springs City Planning Commission, was on the Saint Joseph's Hospital's Ambulance Commission, worked with Garland County Sheriff's Department as a Reserve Deputy, along with helping with the Boy Scouts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Virginia Sisco Wright; daughter, Joyce Brundage; and his brother Donald Wright. Cherishing his memory are his three sons; Scott Allen; grandson, Benjamin; and granddaughter, Adrianna; and Christopher and granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann; and grandson, Jonathan of Hot Springs; and Daniel and daughter-in-law Colleen; and granddaughter, Emily Grace of Bayville, N.J. Survivors also include sister Dolliemae and brother-in-law, Bill Sutton; and sister, Carol and brother-in-law Mick Snyder; and brother, Richard, and sister-in-law Sue Wright in Liberty, Mo.; and surviving sister-in-law, Joy Wright of Charlotte, N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews along with countless friends. A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, July 1, 2013 at First United Methodist Church-Hot Springs, with Pastor Michael Maddox officiating. Burial with full military honors will be 2 p.m., Monday at Fort Smith National Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m., until service time on Monday at the church.
