Elvena Blanche Walter, 90, of Rogers passed away June 22, 2013, in her home. She was born July 3, 1922, in Hays, Kan., the daughter of Lee Elias and Inez Lucille Solomon Wagoner. She was one of the first employees for Wal-Mart Store No. 1 in Rogers and retired after 25 years on April 29, 1994. Elvena was a member of the Tuck's Chapel United Methodist Church since 1948. She graduated in 1940 from Hays High School in Hays, Kan. She moved to Bentonville in 1946 and then to Rogers in 1948. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles and spending time in her flower garden. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Roy Walter, who passed away in November 1995 and infant son, Robert, who passed away in November 1953; and three brothers, Marvin, Norman and Robert Wagoner. Survivors include five sons, David Roy Walter of Bakersfield, Calif., James Stuart Walter of Onalaska, Wis., Daniel Robert Walter of Elkins, Steven Michael Walter of Fort Smith and Mark Lyman Walter of Springdale; one daughter, Lynda Diane Slover of Rogers; one brother, Darrell Wagoner, and one sister, Annalee Runge both of Rogers; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Benton County Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Youngs officiating. Interment will follow in the Tuck's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 6 to 8 at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank Circle of Life Hospice nurses and caregivers for the excellent care you gave to mom. "God Bless You."
