Larry Anderson

Larry Anderson, formerly of Memphis, Tenn., passed away in Springdale, Ark., on June 12, 2013. Born Aug. 2, 1948, to Harvey Garrison Anderson and Helen Marie Anderson, who precede him in death. Larry was a graduate of Humes High School (Memphis, Tenn.) and a two-tour combat infantry officer in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Having reached the rank of captain at the age of 21, Larry received multiple recognitions for his valor and service to his country. The loyalty, bravery and sincere heart to serve others that took him to the battlefield of Vietnam also marked the rest of his life and made him the cherished friend and family member who is missed so much today. Larry's genuine faith in Christ sustained him through his final years and has brought him, at last, to the rest prepared for him by his Lord. Larry is survived by his children, Jeffrey Anderson (McKinney, Texas), Crystal Birmingham (Tupelo, Miss.), Jeremy Anderson (Memphis, Tenn.), and Gregory Anderson (Tupelo, Miss.); and nine grandchildren. Larry's siblings, Harvey Anderson (Kinston, N.C.), Patsy Sugg (Springdale, Ark.), Gwen Warren (Olive Branch, Miss.), James Anderson (Memphis, Tenn.), and David Anderson (Tulsa, Okla.) also survive their beloved brother. Graveside services with military honors will be Monday, June 17, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville, with the Rev. Jeremy Anderson officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon before the service at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Disabled American Veterans, P.O.
