George Anthony "Bob" Hidlebaugh, 68, of Rocky Mount, Mo., passed away, Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at Truman Veterans Hospital. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, June 23, at Riverview Cemetery, 2600 West Main St., Jefferson City, MO 65109. The Rev. Gene Rooney will be officiating. Memorials may be made to Truman Veterans Hospital CLC Floor, 800 Hospital Drive, Columbia, MO 65201. Bob was born Nov. 18, 1944, in Jefferson City, Mo., to Ernest and Billie Jean (Gilmore) Hidlebaugh. He graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1962 and from the Finlay Engineering College in Kansas City, Mo., in 1964. Bob is survived by his father, Ernest Hidlebaugh of Blue Springs, Mo.; two daughters, Angie Hidlebaugh Scholzen and her husband, Tom, of Austin, Texas, Missy Hidlebaugh Allard and her husband, Bart, of Rogers, Ark.; four grandchildren, Jessie and McBaine Scholzen, and John-Paul and Murphy Allard; his brother, Bill Hidlebaugh and wife, Jan, of Blue Springs, Mo. He was preceded in death by his mother, Billie Jean (Gilmore) Hidlebaugh in 1997. Bob loved fishing, and worked for years as a fishing guide and writing fishing articles in the local newspaper until he was forced to stop due to health. He also enjoyed cooking and spending time with his grandchildren. He was always there to help friends with whatever they needed. Bob never met a stranger.
