Mabel Elsie Secrist

Mabel Elsie Secrist was born Feb. 3, 1923, to Elmer and Bessie Earl in Strickler, Ark. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Edna and Lorene and brother, Bearl. She is survived by two brothers, Clifford and Billy Jean. Mabel passed away June 7, 2013, at the age of 90, in Norman, Okla., after a wonderful life of doting on her sons (and being doted on by her sons), gardening, riding horses, dancing, playing croquet and cards and swinging on the tree-swing. She is finally reunited in Heaven with the love-of-her-life, Orval Secrist, whom she has missed terribly for the past eight years. Orval and Mabel married on Christmas Eve 1937, and had three sons, Earl Secrist of Broken Arrow, Okla.,  Jim Secrist of Moore, Okla., and Edward Secrist and wife, Judy, also of Moore. Mabel leaves behind a legacy of grandchildren, including Mark Secrist and wife, Cheryl, of Tulsa, Mike Secrist and wife, Gina, of Tulsa, Melanie Walenciak and husband, Jim, of Broken Arrow, Andy Secrist of Moore, Jamie Brown and husband, Charlie, of Jay, Sarah Brown and husband, Carl, of Stilwell; and Jimmy Lee and wife, Tanya, of Tuttle, Okla. Mabel's great-grandchildren are Megan Secrist, Jaret Secrist, Mason Secrist, Walker Secrist, Morgan Secrist, Joshua Secrist, Jordan Secrist, Joseph Secrist, Cody Walenciak, Dillon Walenciak, Tyler Secrist, Rachel Secrist, Misty McQueen, Kinsy Brown, Maddy Brown, Dalton Secrist and Jesse Secrist.  She also has one great-great granddaughter, Makina Wratten. A graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Eighty-Six Cemetery in Strickler, Ark. Viewing will be held on Monday, June 10, 2013, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
