Nina Jean Blankenship

Nina Jean (Blair) Blankenship, 82, of Melbourne died Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at White River Medical Center in Batesville. She was born in Melbourne on August 20, 1930 to Raymond Landers and Nina Zoe (Davis) Blair. After graduating from high school, she married James Newt Blankenship. She went on to graduate from Arkansas State Teacher's College with a BSE. She was an active member of the Izard County Democratic Women, Melbourne Cemetery Board, and a docent at the Independence County Museum. She was also active in the Izard County Retired Teachers, and the Izard County Historical Society. She was a member of the Melbourne United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, James Newt Blankenship of Melbourne; a son, Dr. James Blair Blankenship and his wife, Rachel of Fayetteville; three grandchildren: Blair, Holden and Griffin Blankenship; nieces: Charlotte Blair Jones and Teresa Blair Hamlisch; nephew, Ron Blair; and two great-nieces: Aubrey and Jordan Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; an infant daughter, Nina Jo Blankenship; and a brother, Bill Blair. Memorial services will be held at 10 s.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the Melbourne United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to Melbourne United Methodist Church, P.O.
