John "Jack" G. Simpson, 90, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Northwest Medical Center Bentonville. He was born Sept. 22, 1922, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to George Gelley and Beatrice (Davis) Simpson. He grew up and attended school in Clark, S.D. He served in the 34th Signal Company of Watertown, S.D., in World War II. He was employed by Northwestern Bell for 38-and-a-half years in South Dakota and Nebraska, retiring in 1984 in Omaha. He was a member of Bella Vista Presbyterian Church, where he served as a member of the property and worship committees. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Alfred Simpson; a sister, Helen Yexley; a son, Robert John Simpson; and his wife of 54 years, Phyllis (Johnson) Simpson. He is survived by a daughter, Tamera Bishop and her husband, John; and two grandsons, Andrew and Matthew, of Lexington, Ky. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 8, at the Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista.
