Mr. Willie A. "Sonny" Griffith, 74, of Jane, Missouri departed this life Wednesday evening, May 29, 2013. Willie entered life on October 13, 1938 in Jane, Missouri, son of Alvin and Zola (Stephens) Griffith. He was a lifelong resident of Jane, Missouri and was a 1956 graduate of White Rock High School. On July 8, 1961, he was united in marriage to Linda D. Lamb and to this union seven children were born. He was a farmer and owner of Griffith Trucking. He was a longtime faithful member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where he was active in all areas of church ministry; including Deacon, Treasurer and Sunday School Director. Willie was a hardworking, devoted husband and father who possessed a great love of God, Family and Country. He enjoyed a day's work, especially spending time on his tractor in the hayfield. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his parents; Alvin and Zola; infant brother, Tommy; and son-in-law, Jeremy Sanny. Willie is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Linda of the home; seven children, Scott (Lori) and Chris of Jane, James (Karen), Sherry (Luke), and Sunny of Anderson, Missouri, Rocky (Kelly) of St. James, Missouri, Shann (Denise) of Gravette, Arkansas; twenty-one grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a brother, George (Darlene) of Jane; a sister, Mary of Joplin; as well as a host of other family and friends. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Jane, Missouri with Bro. Hank Gorman and Bro. Larry Huffman officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6-8:00 p.m. at Ozark Funeral Home Anderson, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorials are being directed to the Calvary Baptist Church Mission House Little Rock, Arkansas. Designed as a home to visiting missionaries it now serves predominantly as a home to families staying in Central Arkansas while undergoing medical treatment at Arkansas Children's Hospital, the Veteran's Administration Health Center, or the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
