Joseph Franklin "Frank" Spencer, age 88, of Fayetteville died Sunday, July 28, 2013, in Fayetteville. He passed away surrounded by his loving family at the Willard Walker Hospice Home. He was born March 5, 1925, in Fort Smith, Ark., the son of Joseph Franklin Spencer Sr. and Lacreacy Stockton Spencer. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Ann Marie McGee. Frank graduated with a B.A. degree at Ouachita Baptist College. He received a bachelor of divinity at the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a master of theology at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He also attended the University of Arkansas. He partnered and managed Arkansas Electrical Contractors and was very proud of the work he did for Fayetteville, including the University of Arkansas Mullins Library and Phase 1 of the Barnhill Arena renovation. Mr. Spencer pastored Meadow Drive Baptist Church in Huntsville, Ala., and First Baptist Church in Farmington, Ark. Frank owned and managed several real estate properties in Fayetteville. Frank was an avid golfer and a Razorback fan. He was an even bigger fan of his children and grandchildren. Frank was a member of First Baptist Church in Fayetteville. His constant encouragement pushed us all to live Christ-like lives. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Virginia Spencer; a daughter, Lori Sherman and her husband, Phil, of Fayetteville; a son, Steven Spencer and his wife, Karen, of Fayetteville; four grandchildren, Hayden Sherman, Lauren Sherman, Abby Spencer and Cole Spencer; a nephew, David McGee; and a niece, Nancy Marks. Visitation will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, at Moore's Chapel ,and a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Moore's Chapel. Burial will be in the Fayetteville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Willard Walker Hospice Home, 325 E. Longview St., Fayetteville, AR 72703.
