Gladys Mary McGill Totty, 89, of New Port Richey, Fla., passed away July 25, 2013 at the Marliere Care Center. "Glad" was born Dec. 23, 1923, in London, England, to Arthur and Elsie McGill. She was predeceased by her husband, Lt. Robert Totty, who died in the Korean Conflict.
 Gladys joined the British Army during WW II and was made a Master Sergeant at 19. She was responsible over a radar operation attached to a heavy artillery unit. She married her husband, an American Army officer, in 1945, moved to America and became a U.S. citizen. She lived in Memphis for many years and worked for the Police Department, banks, publishing, and as a federal employee with the IRS. She lived in San Jose, Calif., before moving to New Port Richey for retirement.
 She enjoyed reading, dancing, computing, and caring for her pets. She had a dry sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh. She will be missed by those who loved her. 
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Stanley ( Roy) of Fayetteville, Ark.; brother, Dennis McGill ( Betty) of Port Richey; three grandchildren, Robert Stanley (Pam) of Fayetteville, Ark., Denise England ( Heath) of Elm Springs, Ark., Sarah Stanley of Nashville, Tenn.; four great-grandchildren, Reese and Chafer Stanley of Fayetteville, Ark., William and Abigail England of Elm Springs; many cousins in England; and by her caregiver and friend, Wendy Watson.
