Leonard Ray Dunning

Leonard Ray Dunning, age 71, of Jay, Okla., passed from this life on July 22, 2013, in Springdale, Ark. He was born Nov. 14, 1941, in Shawnee, Okla., the son of Albert and Daphna Nichols Dunning. He was of the Baptist faith and had worked as a supervisor for Tyson Foods and was also a USDA food inspector. He was the founder and lead singer of the California Drifters Band and loved playing music and singing. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a good friend to many people. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Tawnya Dunning, of the home; four daughters, Teresa Cesena of Visalia, Calif., Rayla Phillips of Exeter, Calif., Ronda Menie of Webbers Falls, Okla., and Linda Peikiert of Modesto, Calif.; four stepchildren, Michael Price of Anderson, Mo., Michele Price of Visalia, Calif., Quinton Williams of Jay, Okla., and Chandler Williams of Jay, Okla.; his mother, Daphna Dunning of Porterville, Calif.; three brothers, Terry Dunning of Bernice, Okla., Geary Dunning of Afton, Okla., and Montie Dunning of Porterville, Calif.; one sister, Alberta Thomas of Porterville, Calif.; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with graveside services following at Indianola Cemetery in Jay, Okla., with the Rev. Paul Payne officiating, under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013, at the funeral home.
