Chester William Berner

Chester William Berner, a devoted family man, passed away on July 22, 2013, at the age of 78 at the Bradford House in Bentonville, Ark. He was born on Dec. 4, 1934, in Kress, Texas, the son of Alfred and Minnie Buhrkuhl Berner. Chester worked as a truck driver for Willis Shaw and Jones Truck Line, farmer and a custodian for Bentonville School District. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Alfred and Minnie Berner of Elm Springs; a sister, Bertha Voth of Minnesota; several brothers, Lawrence Berner of Japan, Arnold Berner of Little Rock, Edward Berner of Springdale, Edwin Berner of Springdale, Raymond Berner of Springdale and Donald Berner of Arizona. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jewell Mae Newby Berner; three sons, Ricky and his wife, Sharon Berner, of Lowell, Danny and his wife, Brenda Berner, of Highfill, Neal and his wife, Sonya Berner, of Berryville; two sisters, Elsie Westerfield of Little Rock and Pauline Wilson of Arizona; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He will be cremated by Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 25, at 10 a.m., and a memorial service will immediately follow at the chapel at Benton County Memorial Park, 3800 W. Walnut, Rogers, Ark. In lieu of flowers, family has asked to send donations to the Bradford House Nursing and Rehabilitation in Bentonville, Ark.
