Jana Lynn (Moore) Britton, of Fayetteville, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013, from Primary Amyloidosis, a rare blood disease. Jana was born in Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Mo., July 17, 1942, to parents James A. Moore and Dorothy (Graf) Moore. She attended Horace Mann Elementary School and graduated from Southwest High School in 1960. She was raised one block off Tower Grove Park and within walking distance of the Missouri Botanical Gardens, where her love of trees and gardens began. In 1960, she attended the University of Missouri, Columbia, where in her first college class she met her soul mate and husband-to-be, Charles Robert Britton. They married Dec. 1, 1962. She then decided to drop out of school to support his continued education. Little did she know this would be seven more years of support while he went on to earn his Ph.D. She returned to college at the University of Arkansas and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture in 1988. Jana worked summers for the National Park System: the Buffalo National River, Isle Royal National Park, and Rocky Mountain National Park. In Fayetteville, she served on the Planning Commission, was awarded five grants to plant trees, and was a member of the Fayetteville Garden Club (she served as an officer for many years.) Jana was also active in the League of Women Voters and University Women. She was both a Cub Scout leader and Girl Scout leader for her children's' troops. Her greatest loves were her three children and her husband with whom she recently celebrated her golden anniversary. Jana is survived by her husband, Charles Robert Britton, of Fayetteville; son, James Robert Britton and wife Kelly, of Gravette, Ark.; daughter, Tory Britton Sims and husband Eric, of Deer Park, Calif.; daughter, Stacy Lynn Higgins and husband Matthew, of Prairie Village, Kan.; a sister, Maureen (Moore) Trimble and husband Wesley, of Westerville, Ohio; six grandchildren; grandson, Kyle Britton and wife Kathryn, of Centerton, Ark.; granddaughters, Kayla Britton and Kaitlynn Britton, of Gravette, Ark.; grandsons, Finnian Higgins and Quinn Higgins and granddaughter Gabrielle Higgins, of Prairie Village, Kan.; and two great-grandchildren, Luke and Paisley Britton, of Centerton, Ark. A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Moore's Chapel, Fayetteville, Ark. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Botanical Garden of The Ozarks, P.O.
