Evelyn L'nee Skinner passed away on Monday, July 8, 2013 at Hospice of the Hills in Harrison with her family by her side. She was born to the late Clefton and Opal Sanders Scott on July 3, 1941 in Beaumont, Texas. Evelyn grew up in Kilgore, Texas, graduating from Kilgore High School in 1959 and then attending Kilgore Junior College. She received a BBA from North Texas University and a BA in English from Pan American University. She married Bill Skinner on September 22, 1964, and they lived in Edinburg, Texas and Case Grande, Arizona before settling in Harrison, Arkansas in 1974. Evelyn was a teacher early in her career, teaching migratory school on the Texas border, as well as teaching on the collegiate level later in her life. For the last 35 years, she worked in Real Estate in Harrison, most recently owning her own business, Skinner and Associates Realtors. Evelyn knew the power of hard work. She started working at 14, often sending her wages to her brothers in college to help them out, and worked her way through college. That drive served her well throughout her life, attaining two degrees, establishing a successful career, and ultimately owning her own business for the last ten years before her retirement. For fun, Evelyn enjoyed travelling anywhere and everywhere, bowling, and the occasional trip to the casino. But for anyone that knew her, Evelyn's greatest joy was her family. She loved her children beyond measure, and would have done anything for her grandchildren. Evelyn was a fantastic mother and grandmother, and was so loved by everyone. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Billy Joe Scott and Clefton Scott Jr, and a daughter, Joanna Paige Skinner. She is survived by her husband, Bill Skinner, son, Patrick Skinner and his wife Tonya, daughter, Jennifer Skinner Morrow and her husband David, and son Brandon Skinner and his wife Chere'. Evelyn also is survived by four grandchildren: Reid, Jacob, Nathan and Jet Skinner; sister-in-law, Peggy Scott of Tyler, Texas and nephews Ryan Scott of Beaumont, Texas and Derek Scott of Atascocita, Texas. Visitation will be at Roller-Christenson Funeral Home in Harrison on Thursday, July 11 from 6-8 p.m. with services on Friday July 12 at 10 a.m. in the chapel at Roller-Christeson. Burial will take place at 3 p.m. on Friday July 12 at Pinnacle Memorial Gardens in Rogers, Arkansas. Arrangements are by Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.
