Richard "Curly" Miller, 58, of Kingston, Ark., died July 4, 2013. He was born Aug. 10, 1954, in Baltimore, Md. He was the son of Dr. John C. and Roberta Beck Miller of Mountain Home, Ark. He grew up in Penfield, N.Y., but moved to Kingston, Ark., in 1976. Curly and his wife, Carole Anne, turned their love of the Ozarks into a remarkable organic Shiitake mushroom family farm, delivering to hundreds of local customers in Northwest Arkansas and to other cities around the country. Curly is also renowned for his music. He played Old Time fiddle and banjo in festivals nationwide with his wife and with their band, The Old 78s. He loved to fish and spent as much of his last years as he could fishing with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Carole Anne Rose of the home; two sons, Kerry Miller (Fayetteville, Ark.) and Silas Miller (NYC, N.Y.); his daughter, Sara (Galen) White, two grandsons, River Shane and Rowan Benen White (all of Ozone, Ark); his mother Roberta Miller (Mountain Home, Ark.); and two sisters, Sharon (Ted) Peters (Williamson, N.Y.) and Barbara Miller (Nashville, Tenn.). He was preceded in death by his father. A private memorial was held at the family farm. Curly asked that memorials in his name may be made to the charity or organization of your choice. Arrangements were under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home, www.brashearsfuneralhome.net, of Huntsville, Ark.
